Equipment comes in 4 Ranks. The higher the Rank the stronger it is, and each Rank comes from a different place. The equipment codex (opened from the equipment window) shows where every piece comes from, and the Rank strip on an item card shows what comes next.
| Rank | Where it comes from | Feel |
|---|---|---|
| C | Bought from the weapon/armor shops in town | Cheap, the starting point for each level band |
| B | Monster drops, or upgrade a Rank C piece at the craftsman | About 15% stronger than Rank C, more sigil slots |
| A | Boss drops from that band, or upgrade a Rank B piece at the craftsman | Much stronger |
| S | Crafted at the craftsman with boss materials and Gold | The strongest |
Weapons for every line
Weapons exist for every job line: swords (Vanguard / Lancer), axes (Trader / Artisan), bows (Bowman / Skyhunter), maces (Cleric / Oracle), staves (Spellcaster / Elementalist), daggers (Scout) and twin daggers (Shadowblade). In each level band (Lv 15, 30 and 45), each of the 84 weapons in the game has its own model and name, with no model reused.
Example, the Lv 45 swords (ATK):
| Rank | Name | ATK | From |
|---|---|---|---|
| C | Grove Longsword | 83 | Elderwood shop |
| B | Fernfang Blade | 95 | Dropped by Fernmaw in the Deep Forest |
| A | Shadefang Edge | 114 | Boss drop from Shadefang, or upgrade |
| S | Rootheart Blade | 146 | Crafted |
Upgrading at the craftsman
Tobin in Sandport and Elderwood handles upgrades.
- Rank C to B: a Rank C weapon of the same band + materials from that band's monsters + Gold
- Rank B to A: a Rank B weapon + boss materials (such as Thornback Spike, Dunebloom Nectar or Shadefang Mane) + Gleaming Ore + Gold
- Rank S (Lv 30 and 45): a Rank C weapon + several boss materials + tens of thousands of Gold. For example the Rootheart Blade needs 3 Shadefang Mane, 5 Dunebloom Nectar, several other materials, and 45,000 Gold
See the full recipes at Crafting and the Prize Booth or on the items pages.
The Lv 45 set
Armor, shields, garments, shoes and accessories for the Lv 45 band come as a full set: Rank C at the Elderwood shops, Rank B dropped by Deep Forest monsters (for example the Rootguard Plate from Bark Reaver), and Rank A from the boss Shadefang (Shadefang Mantle, Shadefang Ring). There are also Glassmoth Wings (Rank S), crafted on top of the Sandglider Wings.
Sigil slots
Most equipment has slots for Sigils, and higher Ranks have more (Grove Longsword has 2, Fernfang Blade has 3). See Sigils.
What to do first
- Buy the Rank C for your current level band from the shop
- Farm a Rank B drop or upgrade
- Beat bosses for the materials for Rank A and S
