Attack timing
Every attack has 4 phases: wind-up, impact, hold, recovery. The server decides every result. A command pressed during the hold is remembered and runs the moment the move ends. Attack speed (ASPD) depends on your job and weapon type. Effects, numbers and sounds line up with the moment of impact.
Hotbar
Drag a skill or item from a window into a hotbar slot, then press 1β9 (or F1βF9). There are 3 pages, 27 slots in all; press the ` key (left of 1) to switch pages. Hold Shift with a number to use it on yourself (for example, healing yourself). Right-click a slot to clear it.
Auto-attack and ultimates
- Press A to toggle auto-attack. Your character keeps hitting its target, and skills with the A badge on your hotbar are used automatically when you have enough SP
- Press Tab to switch to the next monster (nearest to farthest)
- Each job's ultimate charges a gauge; when it is full press R or 0 (or the ultimate button on a phone screen)
- If you move yourself (click the ground, use the joystick), auto-attack switches off so it does not fight your commands
Elements
Monsters and skills have elements. Hit the right element for bonus damage; the wrong one deals less, or none at all.
| Monster element | Hit it with | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Water | Wind | Water |
| Earth | Fire | Earth |
| Fire | Water | Fire |
| Wind | Earth | Wind |
| Undead | Fire / Holy | Undead, Poison |
| Shadow | Holy | Shadow |
| Holy | Shadow | Holy |
| Ghost | Ghost | Neutral |
Check each monster's element in the monster database. Most physical attacks have no element, so they hit everything but get no bonus. Casters can choose elements (the Spellcaster binds one with Attunement), so they gain the most once they know their enemy.
Status effects
Some monsters cause slow, poison, stun, freeze, sleep, blind and snare. Check their skills in the database. Carry potions and do not stand in a crowd of them. Ward Sigils help resist status effects.
Bosses
Bosses have signature moves you have to read. Continue with Fighting Bosses.
What happens when I die?
You respawn at your last save point. Talk to the caretaker in town to move your save point.
